The Wolfe Feed Store in Deep River, Iowa. Ray opened the store on Main Street in about 1937, and operated it until around 1939 when Clarence "Short" Elliott took over the business. (In February 1941, Clarence's son Evan [and his wife Eileen] moved from Des Moines to operate the business.)

This little give-away was from the days before Ray-Vitam -- when Ray worked for Sargent Feeds. The 1945 date (okay, and the "V-E Day" and "V-J Day" references) gives you an idea of when these were handed out. I wonder how many people punched the coins out of the little aluminum holders just so they'd have that extra spending money.

This is another trinket from the days of Sargent Feeds. Click the photo to open up a display showing the inside and outside of the matchbook. Imagine those days when matchbooks were a common give-away, and nearly every man (and most juveniles) carried them. These days they're collectors items.

Another little "calling card" was this brain teaser used by Sargent & Co. I think one of the reasons Ray liked this card is because you had to count the number of "F"s in the sentence. And "F" was his middle name.
